Get Started
New to makerspaces? Start with a tour and try to create something simple. If you’ve come in with a specific project in mind but don’t know where to start, just ask a Fab Lab staff member for help.
Statement of Fabulosity
Our goal here at the Fab Lab is to create a supportive and caring community space where creativity and our inner geeks can thrive. It takes care from all of us to build a supportive environment for our peers and we encourage you to be aware of how your actions, behavior, and words shape this space for everyone. Our new hope is that we can all value and encourage one another’s total awesomeness.
Open Hours Appointments
Wanna use the tools in our space? Making an appointment is the first step. Walk-ins are also welcome, but some of our more popular tools could be in use.
Tools
Discover what tools we have in our lab. From e-cutters to sewing machines to lasers, 3D printing, resin printing, poster printing, and more.
Materials
We keep some materials on hand for purchase so you can stop in and make a project the same day without having to run to the store for supplies.
Tutorials & Resources
Find tutorials and resources to help get your projects started. Great for those learning how to use new tools and software they’re not familiar with.
Take a look around Our Fab Lab
Our building is located on UIUC’s campus – just south of the ACES Library. Any time we have open hours, you are welcome to stop in and have a look around the space or get started on a project of your own. If it’s your first visit, let lab staff know and we can give you a quick tour around the different areas in the lab and answer any questions you may have. This virtual tour below can give you an idea of what our lab generally looks like, but we do like to move things around from time to time.
